Back by popular demand, So You Think You Can Dance's second season premiered on May 25, 2006 with a new host, Cat Deeley. For the first time, the top dancers at the hometown auditions received plane tickets to the next round of auditions, held in Las Vegas, and from there the judges chose their Top 20 for the competition.

Some of the most memorable routines in SYTYCD history came from this season including two Emmy-winners: the Top 10's "Ramalama" choreographed by Wade Robson, and Mia Michaels' "Calling You" (a.k.a. "The Park Bench") performed by eventual Top 4 finalists Travis Wall and Heidi Groskreutz.

After reprising some of the best routines of Season 2 at the finale, Benji Schwimmer beat out Travis Wall as America's Favorite Dancer.
